Why Can't We All Just Get Along?

Why can't I help one kid with homework in peace without the other two yelling in the background? Why can't I leave two boys unsupervised for a few minutes without the house falling apart? Why does one throw a pencil at the other? Why is homework such a CHORE? For ME. Why can't I give a simple direction and expect it to be followed? Why must I ask them something 100 times before they even seem to hear me? Why must they argue with me? Why are they so loud? Why? I'm spent.

I Solemnly Swear....

Congratulations to Kai! He was recently elected to be a Student Class Representative this year. I even went to his inauguration and watched him be sworn in and everthing! Here he is down on the left:Our friend and neighbor, Naomi, was also elected. She is standing right next to him on the left. Congrats to you, too, Naomi!

As I mentioned on an earlier blog, Alyssa recently auditioned for the District Honor Choir and made it. She is very excited. We just learned that their big trip this year will be to Disney World to sing at Singabration in February. She has never been to Disney before and is beside herself. Also, it is a singular honor. Normally Singabration has only been open to Middle School and High School Choirs. Alyssa's choir is going to be the feature elementary choir, the ONLY elementary choir to participate! This is exciting to me, because I was very involved in choir in high school and twice participated in a similar event, Disney's Candlelight Celebration at christmas. So here I will be at Disney with my own daughter passing the torch!

This past Saturday, I went to Savannah with my friend, Deborah. We went to attend a class at a local scrapbook store. We had a fun time at the class, but the trip itself was the highlight. We had wonderful conversation during the drive. (about 5 hrs round trip) and ate lunch at Molly MacPherson's Scottish Pub and Grill.

It was DELISH! We started off with an appetizer of Scottish Potato Scones with Raspberry sauce. Then, I had Shepherd's Pie and Deborah had Bangers and Mash. For desert we had yummy bread pudding with cream and a strawberry! We even got to meet Molly MacPherson's great-grandaughter! It was such fun. Then we took a drive down River St. and a few of the famous 'Squares' before going on to the class. I LOVE Savannah!

Budding Photographer?

I've always loved photography. Since I got my first camera around the age of 11 or so, I loved taking pictures. My week spot, though, is NO patience. My son, Kai, just started a project at school. He had to hang a hummingbird feeder and observe it, filling out an observation sheet every week. When we first started seeing hummingbirds, we were very excited and I wanted to get a picture. And I got one! I was very proud of myself although, the picture wasn't great because I had to take it through a screen. I tried to sit out on the steps, but the hummingbirds wouldn't come while I was there, and I didn't have the patience to wait long enough for them to get used to me being there. The next day I went out and while I was gone, Kai and Alyssa decided to wait out the hummingbirds on the steps. Their patience was rewarded! Kai took several beautiful pictures of them, and his turned out so much better than mine! Way to go Kai! Here they are:

Creator, Comedian, Singer

These are my children. Meet, Kai the creator. He is 8. He recently checked out a book from the library about Origami paper airplanes. He has been loving this book. I can't count how many different airplanes he's made. (But, I've made at least 4 or 5! Fun!) Naturally his little brother wants to play with them, too! Meet Roan, the comedian. He just turned 4 and constantly keeps us laughing. When Kai got upset at Roan for taking his paper airplanes, Roan said, "You make 'em, I take 'em!" Now meet Alyssa, the singer. She is 10. Last week she auditioned for the District 5 Elementary School Honor Choir. We just found out yesterday that she made it! Congratulations Alyssa!

Happy Birthday, Roan!

He turns 4 years old today! Roan has been talking about his 4th birthday since his 3rd. And, yes, he's already talking about the next one! Next year he wants a Superman party! We had a lot of fun this weekend. Andrea and Jerry came for a visit. We have not met him before and they've been dating for about 9 months, so it was great to finally get to know him. We had a great time playing games, watching a movie, eating, and just hanging out. Andi and Jerry were able to be at Roan's party, too. The kid's totally love Jerry and wouldn't stop climbing all over him. Literally. Thanks for being a good sport, Jerry! And, sorry about the cat.....(Don't ask.)

I did not win the photo challenge. *sob* But, I will grudgingly admit that the winning photo was very good. Also, CONGRATULATIONS to my good friend Deborah! She won a contest and she and her winning layout are featured in the October issue of Scrapbook Answers.
